SPI Offers a Variety of Ladder Leagues
Throughout the Year - Everyone Welcome
SPI schedules a variety of ladders and round robins throughout the year: men's league, partner's league and women's round robin. Programs are advertised to all SPI members throughout the year.
When will ladder leagues start and end? Ladder League dates are announced on the weekly SignUp Genius message and in SPI's newsletter. What is the cost? The cost for each Ladder League is $10.00 payable on the Pickleball Brackets website at the time of registration. The cost for the Women's Round Robin is also $10.00 payable on SignUp Genius at the time of registration. During the indoor season, each person is also responsible to pay daily court fees ($7.00 per individual session or $65 for a 10-pass punch card or $85 for a monthly pass). There are no court fees when programs are held on outdoor courts. Who are ladder leagues for? Ladder Leagues and Round Robins are open to players of any age, any level. The ladder league is NOT just for advanced players. The aim of the ladder league is for all players to enjoy playing pickleball with other players of a similar calibre. Round Robins do not involve score keeping or rating - players are matched with a different player and opponent each game. How do the ladders work? The way ladders work is that players are initially grouped with people closest to their own level. After each week, one player in each group moves up, one moves down and the rest stay the same. After play is finished, players’ scores are entered into Pickleball Brackets. After each session, players ratings are recalibrated and new groups are put together for the next session, based on that new rating. Players make their way up and down the ladder based on their own level of play. How are initial Ladder ratings determined? Initial ratings will be done first by existing SPI club ratings. If there is no club rating, then for players who have played tournaments, their initial rating for the ladder will be based on that tournament rating. If you don’t have a club OR tournament rating, then the self-rating you provided when signing up for your Pickleball Brackets account will be used. Again, this is just for the initial rating. After play starts, you will move up and down based on performance. Must I commit to playing every session? You do not have to commit to play every session but the more you play the more accurate your rating will get. However, you DO have to confirm your attendance each day, in advance, if you plan to play. How do I register? To register for the ladder leagues, you will first have to sign up for a free account with Pickleball Brackets - see our BOOKINGS PAGE. Next, you need to go to “clubs” and scroll down to join the Saskatoon Pickleball Inc. club. After that, go to leagues and join the League you're interested in. As mentioned, players will need to confirm before each session whether they will be attending. A maximum of 36 - 40 players will be set by each league. Registration for the Women's Round Robin is done on the Sign Up Genius Program. Players do not have to sign in each week Where can I find more information? A step-by-step tutorial on how to sign up and use Pickleball Brackets is available on the BOOKINGS PAGE. All SPI members will be informed when registration is open by email coming from [email protected]. |
