Canadian Tournament Player Ratings (CTPR) |
YOUR CTPR
Did you know that your rating (CTPR) will fluctuate slightly after every sanctioned tournament game you play? Win or lose, every point counts, because ratings are adjusted based on your “actual” final score (A) against the predicted probability (P) of your team winning/losing, given your current CTPR. It’s a transparent system, showing changes after every game you play. HOW TO FIND YOUR EXACT CTPR (CANADIAN TOURNAMENT PLAYER RATING) 1. Log in to your profile on Pickleball Brackets 2. Under your name, click on “My Stuff” 3. Click on “Organizations” 4. Click on Pickleball Canada 5. Your CTPR ratings for doubles, mixed and singles will show. Note that your CTPR may be different from your “Pickleball Brackets” rating because CTPR includes only your results from PCO sanctioned tournaments. If you’ve played in sanctioned tournaments before, check out your “game results” to better understand how your rating changes. Good luck to all participants in Pickleball Saskatchewan Provincials 2024! |
CLUB LESSONS |
SPI LESSONS
To get involved with lessons, an individual must first take out a membership with SPI, www.saskatoonpickleballinc.ca/join. Within 24 hours, a welcome message will come from SPI with links to all program offerings, including lessons. The signup for these is through a program called SignUp Genius (SUG). We recommend that members create a SUG account for ease of use. Dates, times and fees for fall classes are announced in the weekly SUG signup and in SPI's newsletter. Classes tend to fill up quickly (first come ~ first served ~ no preregistration), so be prepared to sign up right at 7:00 PM.
SPI offers the following learning programs throughout the year: |
|
LESSON DESCRIPTIONS
At this time, one free introductory lesson is available for all new SPI members. If you or your group (schools included) would like a lesson, please contact the SPI Executive at [email protected] and we will arrange a lesson at a time that is suitable for you. SPI has all the equipment necessary to teach not only individuals, but groups of up to 20 people. For group instruction, a small fee may apply. |
SKILLS AND DRILLS LESSONS
SPI offers Skills and Drills Clinics in a variety of session blocks. These clinics are designed for beginner/novice and intermediate players who would like to work on specific aspects of their game. The clinics are 120 minutes long, with 60 minutes of instruction followed by 60 minutes of game play. Clinics are limited to 8 participants. SPI members who register are asked to commit to the entire teaching block. Registration is done through SignUp Genius. Clinics topics are geared to the skill level of players and may include: ** Introduction to Pickleball ** The Dink Shot ** 3rd Shot Drop ** ** Deep Serve and Return of Serve ** Attacking With a Purpose ** Beating The Bangers ** ** Lobbing & Lob Defence ** Strategy and Court Positioning ** |
PRACTISE AND PLAY LESSONS Are you looking for immediate feedback on your game? If so, join others in an effective learning environment where skill-alike players receive tips from on-court coaches regarding shot selection, shot placement, shot technique, court positioning, reading an opponent, working with a partner and game strategy. Time is dedicated to helping participants improve their shots by practising specific skills or playing specialized games. Practise and Play programs are geared towards Intermediate and Advanced Players in four-session blocks. Registration is done through SignUp Genius. |
DINK, DROP, DRIVE PROGRAM
This three-session program is for players in the 3.5 range looking to hone dink, drop and drive skills while improving strategies in shot selection, execution and court positioning. The class will focus on returning the ball with the right shot (dink, drop, or drive) for a solid defence and winning offence. Players who register must already use the dink and third shot drop regularly in their game. |
Getting Tournament Ready |
Excited about the prospect of an upcoming tournament and looking for tips on how to set yourself up for success? The Getting Tournament Ready Program (GTR) instructed by Lionel and Mike Fauchoux is a tournament-style program geared at helping people “Play To Win.” Participants will learn how to pick or find a partner, prepare their mind and body prior to game play, employ defensive strategies, take an offensive stance, be strategic in all aspects of the game, identify opponent’s strengths and weaknesses, and avoid the ten most common mistakes. Ready, set, win …. Take the leap, and get the most out of the tournament experience!!!
This program is geared to players thinking of getting involved in tournament play or fairly new to the tournament circuit. Each session consists of two 2-hour sessions within one week (total of 4 hours of instruction). Ideally, participants should come with a playing partner BUT, if you don’t have a partner, you are more than welcome – this program may be a good place for you to find someone who’s a perfect complement to your game! Program dates will be announced in SPI's weekly SignUp Genius emails |

A group of 10-14 year olds from Fullers Library was doing a research project on "The Sport of Pickleball". They came across SPI's website and used some of our information. Anna (one of the youngest in the group) contacted us through her Librarian/Educator and suggested that we put this link on our website. THANK YOU ANNA!
The article gives a brief overview of pickleball, its history (the version that does not include "Pickles" the dog!), rules, techniques, safety and benefits for all ages. At the end of the article there are many useful links. To read the full article CLICK HERE
